Liquid Alternatives / Liquid Alts

Liquid Alternatives (or Liquid Alts) investments give an investor the option to move outside of traditional investment options into the alternative investment space. Liquid alts are Mutual Funds and ETFs that mimic investment strategies set out by hedge funds, bridging the gap between them. They have a low correlation to traditional asset classes, and as such they can be used to diversify away risk in a portfolio and have the potential to provide positive returns independent of the stock market. Unlike traditional alternative investments which offer quarterly or monthly liquidity, liquid alts are far more liquid offering daily liquidity.

Liquid Alternatives

Liquid alternatives provide another way for managers to reduce their risk by offering more ways to invest in diverse market environments. Similar to hedge fund strategies, liquid alts can blend together strategies and asset classes in a variety of ways. Examples of liquid alt strategies include long/short equities, market neutral, commodities, currency-based, and more. They are a good mixture of the risk control of hedge funds with the added advantages of liquidity, lower fees, and transparency.
